Hey y’all, its Jess at New Boots Line Dancing, and as a girl who lived in Nashville for almost two decades and worked in country music, I have become very familiar with the ins and outs of country western fashion. Whether it is country music icons walking the red carpet, working women on the farms of Leiper’s Fork, or bachelorette parties exploring Broadway, I have seen it all.
Country Western fashion is more than fringe, boots, and cowboy hats, it’s a living style tradition rooted in history, practicality, rebellion, and self-expression. What began as functional clothing for ranchers and working cowboys has evolved into a global fashion influence seen on runways, concert stages, social media, and dance floors.
Today (particularly in Nashville), Country Western style balances heritage and reinvention, blending classic silhouettes with modern trends while remaining unmistakably authentic. Nashville has incredible local denim, so definitely plan to shop for denim while you are here. Imogene + Willie has incredible jeans that were all patterned, cut and sewn in the USA. The brand began in 2009 where they set up 15 sewing machines in a 1950s service station. Now over 15 years later they are an established brand that is highly respected in the Nashville community and the entire country.

With all of the bachelorette parties that we teach line dance lessons to, we eventually have begun to refer to cowboy has as “crowns” for the bride (come on, we’ll use any excuse to wear a crown!) The cowboy hat is both functional and symbolic. It signals confidence, individuality, and heritage.
