Hey y’all! If you’re thinkin’ about spendin’ Christmas in Nashville, let me tell ya—you’re in for a real treat! The Music City is always hoppin', but when the holidays roll around, it transforms into a magical wonderland. From the twinkling lights down on Broadway to the cozy Southern charm of our local spots, there’s no better place to ring in the season.

So, grab your boots and get ready to two-step through the best Nashville Christmas festivities. I’m gonna share some of my favorite ways to celebrate the holiday season here, straight from the perspective of a New Boots Line Dancing instructor who knows how to make every occasion a little more fun with a good shuffle and spin.

1. The Christmas Lights at Gaylord Opryland Resort

If you're lookin' for a Christmas light display like no other, head on over to Gaylord Opryland Resort. It's one of the most famous Christmas attractions in Nashville, and for good reason. You’ll find over three million twinkling lights, an indoor garden that's beautifully decorated for the holidays, and even a majestic 10-story Christmas tree that’ll take your breath away.

They’ve got an Ice! exhibit, where you can marvel at ice sculptures, and they even offer snow tubing.Don’t forget to grab a hot cocoa while you’re walkin’ around—it’ll warm you up after all that sightseeing.

Now, while you're here, be sure to stop by the Delta Riverboat and take a ride on the indoor boat. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and a perfect way to rest your feet after all that exploring.

2. Nashville’s Holiday Performances & Concerts

Nashville is home to some of the most talented folks in the world, and Christmas time brings out the best of ‘em. If you’re a fan of music (and let’s be honest, who isn’t in this town?), there are several performances you won’t want to miss.

For starters, head to the Grand Ole Opry for their annual Christmas shows. The Opry is one of the most iconic places in Nashville, and they do Christmas right with a mix of country, bluegrass, and gospel performances. The atmosphere is always so festive, and you’ll hear classic Christmas tunes sung by the stars of country music.

Another great spot for Christmas concerts is The Ryman Auditorium, known as the Mother Church of Country Music. They’ve got a holiday concert lineup that includes everything from classical performances to Christmas concerts by famous artists. Whether you're a fan of traditional carols or a little holiday rock ‘n’ roll, there’s something for everyone.

If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a little more interactive, swing by The Listening Room Café for an intimate holiday jam session with local songwriters. It’s an amazing experience to hear the stories behind the songs and enjoy some good ol’ Nashville hospitality.

3. A Country Christmas at the Nashville Symphony

A Country Christmas with the Nashville Symphony is an absolute must-do for those who want a holiday experience with a touch of elegance. Picture this: You’re seated in the beautiful Schermerhorn Symphony Center, surrounded by the sounds of a live orchestra playing your favorite Christmas tunes. From classical renditions to the iconic country songs we all love, this event is a perfect blend of Nashville’s roots.

The symphony also often has guest performers, so keep an eye out for surprise appearances from some of Nashville’s biggest stars. You’ll feel the holiday magic in the air as the music fills the room, and it’s the perfect way to get in the Christmas spirit!

4. Take a Line Dance Lesson with Me at New Boots Line Dancing

Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a total beginner, our lessons are the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.

Line dancing is such a fun way to stay active while celebrating, and what better time to dance than during the holidays? We often incorporate some classic Christmas tunes into our lessons, so you can shuffle and two-step your way through the season while learning some new moves. Plus, if you’ve never tried it before, it's a great way to meet new folks and have a laugh or two.

In addition to our regular lessons, we also host private events for groups who want to add a bit of Nashville flair to their holiday party. So whether you’re lookin’ for a fun night out or want to add a line dance twist to your Christmas celebration, New Boots is the place to be.

5. Visit Nashville’s Christmas Markets

If you’re lookin’ to get your Christmas shopping done, Nashville’s holiday markets are full of unique, handmade gifts that you won’t find anywhere else. The Nashville Christmas Market at the Music City Center is one of the most popular events in town. You can stroll through aisles filled with local artisans and vendors selling everything from hand-crafted ornaments to jewelry, candles, and treats. The atmosphere is cozy, and it’s a great way to shop local and support small businesses.

Another fun stop is The Holiday Village Art & Craft Fair in East Nashville. This market is smaller but still packed with wonderful holiday goods. You’ll find beautiful art, vintage treasures, and special gifts for everyone on your list. Plus, you can enjoy some local food and warm beverages while you shop.

6. Ice Skating at Centennial Park

If you’re in the mood for some outdoor winter fun, head on over to Centennial Park for ice skating. The park sets up an outdoor ice rink every year, and it’s a perfect spot to enjoy a little bit of winter magic in the middle of Music City. Even if Nashville doesn’t always get snow, the ice rink still makes it feel like a true winter wonderland.

If you’re like me and you don’t mind a little chill in the air, lace up your skates and show off your best moves. You might even be able to convince your friends to join you for a group skate (or a fun holiday line dance, if you're in the mood!).

7. Explore the Holiday Decor in Downtown Nashville

One of the best things about Nashville during the holidays is just taking a leisurely stroll through downtown. Broadway is all decked out with lights, and there’s a magical energy in the air that makes the city feel even more special. The Tennessee State Capitol is beautifully lit up, and the historic Ryman Auditorium has its own set of twinkling lights that add to the charm of the area.

Stop by Patterson House for a seasonal cocktail or head over to The Hermitage Hotel for a taste of Southern elegance. Their grand tree in the lobby is simply stunning, and the hotel’s historic charm makes it a wonderful stop on your Nashville Christmas tour.

8. New Year’s Eve at the Music City Midnight

Finally, don’t forget about ringing in the New Year! Nashville knows how to throw a party, and Music City Midnight is one of the best places to celebrate the arrival of a brand-new year. The free, open-air concert and fireworks show are the perfect way to cap off your holiday season. Grab your boots, bundle up, and dance your way into 2025 with a crowd full of festive folks from all over.

So there you have it, folks! Whether you’re here for the lights, the music, the food, or the dancing, there’s no shortage of things to do when celebrating Christmas in Nashville. And of course, don’t forget to stop by New Boots Line Dancing to add some rhythm to your holiday celebrations. I can’t wait to see y’all on the dance floor! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, y’all!
